Public Speaking Skills:
Wake 'em Up!
Most audience members will forget a speaker's name an hour after they leave the presentation. Want people to remember your material and talk about you in the hallways? Well, I mean talk about you in a good way.
With "Wake 'em Up" public speaking skills, you should use some unique skill or opening that grabs 'em by the short circuits in their brain. My friend Mike Stahl breaks six solid concrete blocks. Jim Ziegler memorizes the name of each participant in the room, and we all love to hear our own name.
I'm not strong enough to pulverize, or bright enough to memorize, so I shoot confetti or fire in the air. It makes them think I am important, so to wake up and listen intently. You could do a beautiful painting quickly like Conni Gordon might do, or you could ride in on a white horse for all I care. Just do not let them stay in their comas while in you are painting a beautiful word picture in their minds with your public speaking skills. Wake 'em Up! That is my book title, and that is your job as a public speaker.
